AS Retail: Salisbury Retail On The Up
Good things happening in the Wiltshire City of Salisbury when it comes to retail.
AS Retail are joint letting agents at Old George Mall which welcomed Primark into the former BHS space adjacent to M&S two years ago. Their addition to the mall, and into the city’s wider retail provision, has led to a significant uptick in demand for retail space in Salisbury with new occupiers now bedding in, building a robust platform to take the scheme forward.
Old George Mall is an open-air scheme benefitting from the city’s main multi-storey car park and has two main frontages, one onto High Street and the other onto New Canal with M&S and Primark acting as the main anchor tenants alongside Lakeland, H&M, Deichmann, Costa, Greggs and Pret.
OGM has recently welcomed six new permanent occupiers with a seventh, another national multiple retailer, close to signing and terms being negotiated on other spaces for Autumn occupation. Greggs also more than doubled the size of their unit opening one of their new café formats in 2025.
International beauty and cosmetic brand Rituals opened in April at the New Canal entrance opposite Pret and international footwear retailer Skechers, via their UK partner ClubSport, have backfilled the former Schuh unit on the main mall close to H&M, Deichmann, Fat Face and Superdrug, the latter having completed a refurbishment of their store recently.
We are also thrilled to welcome IRO Sushi into the former Shuropody store between M&S and Pret on New Canal as well as two independent occupiers who have opened in the last month; Susbu Café and Fluid Grooming have taken kiosk units on the High Street and Catherine Street entrances respectively with Tinga Mexican Restaurant opening on High Street entrance last year. We are in advanced negotiations on a number of other units but still have spaces from 600-2500 sq ft available to let.
Outside of Old George Mall there have been some other notable new additions to the city centre provision. Gail’s, Cornish Bakehouse and independent deli Fig & Fox all having opened in the last 12 months.
