Commercial Property Deals and Developments in the North West
Even during these difficult times commercial property deals continue, allowing us a much needed look forward to the future. Here’s a round up of some of those deals and developments across the office, leisure and industrial industries in the North West.
Office
The Salford Quays, Manchester is seeing “a strong demand for workspace” reports Daniel Barnes of Savills, who with Avison Young have overseen the final let of 17,700 sq ft office space in the Metro Building to Her Majesty’s Courts & Tribunals Service. The Quays has also seen approval for new homes, hotels, a lido and floating gardens.
And a heart felt shout out goes to the Salford gin distillery that has largely switched from gin production to hand sanitizer for the local community during this crisis.
Industrial
JLL together with CBRE are also the letting agents for a development at Omega South in Warrington, part of the Mountpark Warrington Omega mixed use scheme, which has just received funding for another 735,000 sq ft of logistics warehouses development. It is the second phase of development with the first phase completed in March last year. Tom Kilmister, the development director of Mountpark UK & Ireland, stated: “This investment allows us to deliver speculative logistics space in a region where there is a shortage of Grade A stock”
Leisure
Approval has been given for a digital gaming experience from the founders of Tough Mudder, known as the Electronic Theatre, to occupy a unit at the Halle Place Food Quarter in the Manchester Arndale shopping centre. The experience will include rooms with projection mapping, touch screens, motion tracking and surround sound technologies. JLL are the one of the letting agents for Halle Place.
Looking to be completed in 2022, with work continuing with extra safety measures in place as long as possible, is the new Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot. As well as providing a 350-seat theatre there will be an outdoor performance garden, exhibition and visitor centre and educational facilities.
