About Me
I am Jamie Douglas, National Sales Manager at BizSpace Limited, responsible for overseeing our UK sales function and driving growth across our flexible workspace and industrial portfolio. I began my BizSpace journey fifteen years ago as a Business Centre Manager and have progressed through a range of operational and commercial roles. That experience has given me a deep and well-rounded understanding of the market, the priorities of our occupiers and how to create the conditions that help businesses realise their full potential.
What I value most about BizSpace is our culture. We work collaboratively, we empower our people to deliver their best and we take pride in supporting customers with tailored solutions that enable them to grow with confidence. The scale, pace and variety of the business mean that every day has real purpose and impact.
Outside work, I am a Trustee and Board Member for Nottingham’s oldest charity, where I support the mission to provide homes and ongoing assistance to residents, veterans and families in need. Being able to apply my professional experience and people-first values in a social cause brings a real sense of fulfilment.
1. How has 2025 been for BizSpace?
2025 has been a very strong year for BizSpace. We have continued to build on momentum by delivering both occupancy and rental income growth, while also reinvesting in centres to increase versatility and customer choice. Performance remains robust across our business parks, industrial sites and flexible workspace portfolio, supported by a strategy of combining organic growth with the acquisition of new sites throughout the UK. Tenant demand remains extremely strong and the operational performance across the portfolio continues to reflect the strength of our model.
2. What are you observing in terms of occupier demand?
Demand for flexible and scalable space remains strong across the UK. Many of our customers are expanding and signalling confidence in their future growth plans. They value the supportive structure we provide, particularly in a market that can be difficult to navigate. Because we own the buildings, we have the ability to be versatile in our offering and shape bespoke solutions that allow businesses to grow, adapt and succeed.
3. Are you seeing shifts in the types of businesses taking space?
Yes, the profile of occupiers across our portfolio continues to diversify and expand. Demand from our core customer base of micros and SMEs remains very strong, and we are welcoming more new businesses than ever. Alongside this, we are seeing growing interest from larger occupiers, particularly within the defence and sustainable energy-linked sectors, as well as engineering and manufacturing firms and operators moving from purely online sales into physical production and fulfilment. Demand for industrial-style space is increasing, and our recent larger-scale acquisitions allow us to support bigger occupiers as well as customers with more complex operational requirements.
4. Has BizSpace’s strategy evolved in response to hybrid working and flexibility trends?
Absolutely. We are refining our product mix so that customers can combine workspace, industrial space and hybrid formats based on their needs. Converting and upgrading space enables us to unlock additional value while meeting the expectations of modern occupiers. Many customers now want to be located closer to where they live and work, creating benefits for them, their staff and their customers. BizSpace is well placed to support that shift through our national network of key regional locations.
5. Which regional markets are showing the most growth or latent demand?
We are seeing significant momentum in the Midlands and the North, as well as across key business parks with strong road and transport connections. Our most recent acquisitions demonstrate a clear appetite for strategic UK industrial and business parks with long-term scale potential. Sites such as Hartlebury reflect the demand we continue to see from both established occupiers and high-growth businesses.
6. What are the biggest challenges in the current UK commercial property market?
The continued conversion of commercial stock into residential can reduce the availability of suitable space for businesses long term. Many companies are expanding production, distribution and office functions and need the right environments to support that scale. Our approach helps counter this by investing in and improving business parks so they remain viable and high-performing economic hubs, ensuring companies have the facilities they need to grow.
7. How does the future look for 2026 and beyond?
We are highly optimistic about the future. Demand for flexible workspace and industrial space continues to strengthen and our pipeline remains strong. For BizSpace, this means sustained growth, continued reinvestment across the portfolio and ongoing innovation to keep adding value for customers. All of this is underpinned by a business park scale platform and a skilled, engaged and purpose-driven workforce.
