Ocado to join flagship SEGRO development
Leading property developer SEGRO has revealed that Ocado will be joining their flagship Origin development at Park Royal.
Ocado, the world’s largest online supermarket, will occupy a brand new 68,393 sq ft unit, from where they will distribute goods to London.
Head of Property Network Development at Ocado, Ian Starling, said: “We’re delighted to be moving to Origin. Its location means that we can continue to be at the forefront of the e-commerce revolution changing the way we shop, and ultimately, consume goods.”
Alongside this news, SEGRO also announce their plans for the final phase of the development, subject to planning permission. John Lewis has already signed a 25 year lease for 108,000 sq ft of Grade A space, while a further 99,560 sq ft will be built speculatively in two units, with construction set to begin in spring 2015.
The Origin development sits on the site of the 22 acre former Guinness Brewery, with the projected expected to create over 1,000 jobs in the area. Just eight miles from central London, Origin is ideally placed for distribution into London and will offer first class facilities for occupiers.
Commenting on the news, CEO of SEGRO, David Sleath, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ocado to Origin, our latest edge of town development. The letting is another illustration of how SEGRO is providing high quality warehouse properties in the right locations to enable our customers to deliver their products quickly and efficiently to their consumers.”
