Grigg to become BPF president in 2012
British Land’s chief executive Chris Grigg is to become the president of the British Property Federation in 2012.
Grigg will become the BPF’s junior vice president at the trade body’s AGM on July 6, when former Hammerson chief executive John Richards will take over from Hermes’ Rupert Clarke as president, and Great Portland Estate chief executive Toby Courtauld will succeed Richards as senior vice president.
Liz Peace, BPF chief executive, said Grigg brought with him “enormous experience” in the banking sector. After a 20-year career at Goldman Sachs, Grigg joined Barclays as its treasurer in 2005, becoming chief executive of Barclays Commercial Bank in 2006. He began his current role at British Land in 2009.
Chris Grigg said: “Our industry has seen a period of extraordinary volatility in the 18 months I have been at British Land. A sustainable recovery is certainly in sight, but a key catalyst will be the actions of the new government. It is critical that we help to inform policy decisions and ensure growth and enterprise are encouraged.”
“The BPF has played a central role in working with ministers and their officials, and I am excited to be joining at a time when both the organisation and its work are well regarded both by the industry and by politicians.”
