Increasing activity in commercial property market brings optimism for New Year
Commercial property search expert, NovaLoca, has today signalled an optimistic outlook for 2014 after its latest data report showed a number of records have been broken for property enquiries in the run-up to this year’s festive period.
The data, sourced from NovaLoca’s commercial property listing service, shows:
- A 12% increase in the number of property enquiries made via email and telephone during September – November 2013 compared to the same period 12 months ago
- The number of phone enquiries made in November 2013 was the highest in the past five years, 11% higher than the month before and almost 3% higher than the previous highest phone enquiries month, March 2011.

“Over the past three months we have witnessed an unprecedented number of property enquiries in the run-up to the traditionally slow winter period, with enquiries up 12% in comparison to the same time last year, as more and more businesses have been searching for new properties to rent or buy. This is obviously welcome news for the commercial property sector against a backdrop of fragile but growing confidence in the wider UK economy, and should be cause for added cheer for agents over the holidays.”
Lending further credence to the adage that ‘business never sleeps’, NovaLoca expects the coming Christmas period to be a busy one. December got off to a strong start, with the number of enquiries received during the first five working days of the month 74% higher than the same time last year.

“There appears a good deal of optimism for 2014 and a sense of urgency to prepare for its arrival; if enquiries continue in line with current trends this is likely to be our busiest December ever. However, we do hope that – despite observing an increase in the proportion of enquiries over weekends – Christmas Day and Boxing Day will show the traditional reduction in enquiries as people take time off from thinking about work!”
