Technology upgrades that could benefit your business in 2015

No matter how new or innovative a device is, it won’t be long before there is another to take its place in the future. In the spirit of the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is taking place this week in Las Vegas, we’re looking at some of the technology upgrades, old and new, that could breakthrough with UK businesses in 2015.

Laptop to Hybrid – Hybrids provide a flexible alternative to the traditional laptop and allow you maximise portability. The functionality of these devices could be ideal for many businesses, as you are able to seamlessly switch between touchscreen tablet and classic keyboard attached laptop. Instead of two devices, you now only need one, which is perfect if you are on the move throughout the day.

Watch to Smartwatch – The smartwatch has been around for a while, but 2015 could be the year when it takes off for business in the UK. Say goodbye to clumsily checking your smartphone in meetings and hello to a quick look at your wrist for new messages and alerts. Providing all the functionality of a smartphone, on your wrist, the smartwatch is a device that could be a real benefit to many workplaces.

Notepad to Stylus – Is the time of pen and paper coming to an end? Styluses are making a comeback in 2015 and it’s easy to see why. Providing a flexible and dependable method of note taking, you will no longer have to worry about losing your paper scribblings from meetings or presentations, as you can upload them to the cloud right from your device. These slick additions to portable devices could finally make their true breakthrough in 2015.

Smartphone to Phablet – Phablet is a term that could be new to many in 2015. Essentially a smartphone with a larger screen, a Phablet combines all the features of a smartphone and tablet in one handy device. The screen is large enough to accommodate two apps at once and it’s all-in-one functionality makes it a perfect fit for businesses.
