Stirling lies approximately 26 miles north east of Glasgow and 36 miles from Edinburgh and has a popluation of approximately 38,000 plus a wider catchment of approximately 100,000. It can be accessed via A905, A811 and A84, with the latter providing access to junction 10 of the M9 motorway just to the west of the town. Stirling railway station provides regional rail services to the likes of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street as well as direct services to London King's Cross. Additonally numerous bus routes serve the area.
The Thistles and Marches Shopping Centre is the main retail area in the town centre located by Murray Place and Port Street.
