Location
Travelling north from the A74(M)/M6 at Gretna, head northwest along the A75. Travelling south from the A74(M) at Moffat, head southwest along the A701. Take the Edinburgh Road (A701) exit off Bloomfield roundabout and keep left onto Moffat Road. Turn right at the roundabout onto St Marys Street and continue onto English Street (A780). Turn left onto Shakespeare Street (A781).
The centre is set on the right-hand side of Shakespeare Street, at its junction with the High Street. There is dedicated parking available in the centre and free public parking within easy walking distance. Getting here using public transport is just as easy, with a bus stop located directly outside the center’s entrance just off Nith place and Dumfries train station is less than an 8-minute walk from the centre. Dumfries, with a population of around 33,000, is the largest town in Dumfries & Galloway and is therefore South West Scotland’s main shopping and administrative centre. The town lies approximately 75 miles south of Glasgow and 34 miles north west of Carlisle, occupying a strategic location at the intersection of the A75, A76 and A701 trunk roads. The A709 provides the shortest link to the A74(M) motorway at Lockerbie, which is some 12 miles distant.
