Newton Stewart is a market town in the Dumfries & Galloway Council area of south west Scotland. The town is bypassed by the A75 trunk road and is situated at its junction with the A714.

The ferry port at Cairnyan is the country's gateway into Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and is only 28 miles distant along the A75 west bound.

Dumfries is the main regional town and is located approximately 48 miles to the east via the A75, which also provides a link to the A74(M) motorway at Gretna in the east of the region as well as the second largest regional town of Stranraer to the west.
