The facility currently comprises a fully functional computer room pod on the ground floor, a demonstration/marketing suite, various meeting rooms, plant space and undeveloped warehouse. The design intent was for a Tier III data centre serving up to eight pods. The infrastructure is currently installed to serve a single pod only.
The plant for the existing single pod was installed in 2013 providing an IT Load of 560kW. Subsequent phases proposed completion of a further seven pods, however works were not undertaken. This provides flexibility for an incoming operator to re-design the remainder of the facility.
The building extends to approximately 98,000 sq ft gross internal area on a plot extending to circa 6.02 acres (2.44 hectares).The plot is fully secured with perimeter fencing and sophisticated security airlock systems for both pedestrians and vehicles. Site coverage is approximately 40%. There are HGV entrances and exits on the south west and north west corners of the site.
Location
The Data Centre is located in Holford, approximately 4 miles north of Birmingham city centre, the UK's second city. Occupying a strategic location, the data centre is situated circa 2.5 miles from junction 6 of the M6 motorway and 0.7 miles north of Witton train station. The location benefits from high speed fibre connectivity to major internet exchanges in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Frankfurt, as well as resilient links to the USA via the transatlantic Kelvin link in Belfast.
