Former Hospital in Glasgow for Sale, Broomhill Hospital, Kilsyth Road, Kirkintilloch, G66 1RD
80,000 Sq Ft / Offices
Withdrawn - Last updated: 05 April 2024
The former Hospital complex extends to 7,438 sq m (80,000 sqft), or thereby, dating from the 1870s to the 1980s. The Hospital is presently accessed from the A803 Kilsyth Road byway of two access roads. The purchasers will be granted the necessary rights of access to enable development to proceed. There is a small lodge house located at the front entrance to the western access road which is also included in this sale.
PLANNING GUIDANCE
A previous Conservation Study dated June 2005 prepared by the mseller in consultation with Historic Scotland, East Dunbartonshire Council and other interested parties recommended the retention of the original Broomhill Villa while removing all later additions. A copy of the Conservation Study is available upon request, however, it should be noted the fabric of the buildings have deteriorated considerably since the preparation of this report.
More recently, Historic Scotland have indicated that a case might be made for the demolition of all buildings on site with the exception of the original 19th Century villa at the core of the main buildings and the lodge house. This would be on the understanding that the villa would be restored to a high standard. The lodge is a significant element of the listing and given its size and location, should be relatively straight forward to bring back into use.
