Town Centre Stylish Restaurant, The Galleon Grill Restaurant, Post Office Brae, Tobermory, PA75 6NU

not specified / Leisure / Restaurants / Cafes

Sold - Last updated: 02 June 2021

The Galleon Grill enjoys a central location in the heart of Tobermory town centre, and occupies a mid-terraced position tucked away just off the main street and waterfront.

Upon entering, guests are welcomed into an attractive reception bar, leading directly into the dining area. The commercial kitchen backs on to the bar area and is divided by a glass panel. The kitchen, therefore, is partially open plan with a modern stainless steel food pass, separating the kitchen from the dining area. The kitchen and preparation areas are well kept, and equipped with a good range of catering equipment. The Restaurant has been awarded a food hygiene ‘pass’ certificate from Argyll and Bute Council, following a recent Environmental Health inspection.

The cellar and Male and Female W.C.’s are situated to the back of the Restaurant.

The Restaurant has the capacity to comfortably offer 34 covers split between a mixture of seating options, including chairs, high stools, wall seating & booths. No detail has been overlooked by our client, with red faux leather upholstery complementing the light shades above.

There are many eye-catching features, including the original exposed stone wall and wooden herringbone flooring, which enhance the cosy atmosphere of the restaurant.

Location

The picturesque harbour town of Tobermory is well known for its colourful painted buildings, and is the main commercial centre for the Isle of Mull - a popular island of the Inner Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland.

Mull has a local resident population of approx. 3,000 persons. This is heavily supplemented by a high influx of tourist visitors, especially during the summer season. The island has so much to offer; stunning coastlines, outstanding natural beauty and rich Scottish heritage - visitors come to enjoy wildlife spotting and outdoor activities as well as visiting the local Whisky and Gin Distilleries .

There are 3 main ferry terminals on the Island, which are serviced regularly each day by Caledonian MacBrayne.

Accommodation

A self-contained one bedroomed mid terraced accommodation can be made available to the new owner(s) of The Galleon Grill. The apartment has recently been renovated to a high standard, and is tastefully decorated using neutral tones, complemented by cosy grey tartan fabric for soft furnishings and matching carpet.

THE BUSINESS - The Galleon Grill’s menu offers a wide range of delicious options, with dishes being freshly prepared on the premises using only top quality, locally sourced ingredients. Popular choices range from succulent chargrilled steaks & burgers, to fresh Scottish Seafood or Poultry. Specials are drawn up on a chalkboard, such as ‘Tobermory Tomahawk’ and ‘Local Lobsters’, and updating these regularly is a great way to keep locals interested.

The dessert menu offers a selection of indulgent treats, after dinner liqueurs & coffees. The bar is well stocked with many popular beers, wines, spirits & Scottish Whisky on offer.

The Restaurant benefits from an 11am-XXXm, 7 days a week Premises Licence and has a small bar seating area at the entrance.

There is a small but dedicated team of staff, consisting of; Head Chef, Second Chef & 2 x Front of House, who have excelled in delivering an extremely high standard of service for customers. This is evident from the reviews left by customers after visiting, resulting in the business being awarded TripAdvisors Certificate of Excellence, since 2014.

Terms

OPPORTUNITY - The restaurant was purchased by our client as the former Posh Nosh in 2010, since then it has undergone a full refurbishment, resulting in this intimate and stylish establishment.

The Galleon Grill provides prospective purchasers with a true turn-key opportunity, as the business has already built up a great reputation with locals and tourists alike –  however, there is known demand to open longer hours. Although the business, through owners choice, has traditionally opened from mid-March/April through to the end of October, presenting a new owner with the opportunity to extend the season or trade all year round, taking advantage of the increasingly popular winter season.

We envisage that The Galleon Grill would ideally suit a hands-on chef owner/operator or partnership team, who could continue to develop trade whilst introducing their own flare and energy, to increase profitability.

The availability of The Galleon Grill and associated accommodation truly creates a wonderful lifestyle business on the beautiful island of Mull.

TRADE INVENTORY - The well-presented commercial kitchen has a good range of professional catering equipment. A full detailed inventory will be supplied during the legal process.
