To the north east is the town of Newark on Trent (12 miles) and the market town of Grantham is approximately 19 miles to the east. There is good access to major routes including the M1 (junction 25) which is 21 miles to the west and the A1 is accessed at Grantham and Newark on Trent.
The small village of Gunthorpe is a popular day visitor destination, with boats for hire on the river and a number of well known restaurants and public houses within the village.
There is access to the local rail network (Nottingham express trains) at Burton Joyce and Lowdham , with access to the National Railway Network at Nottingham and Newark.
