Location
The subjects lie on the South Side of Seagate, midway between its junctions with Gellatly Street, and Commercial Street, in the heart of Dundee City Centre. Chambers Music Bar lies within an established entertainment district being immediately adjacent to two large corporately owned bars, one trading under the stewardship of J D Wetherspoons. Dundee remains the main administrative and commercial centre for the Tayside area which has been through a period of urban regeneration in recent years. A number of redevelopment projects have been completed including the expansion and regeneration of the Overgate Shopping Centre while there is on-going redevelopment within City Quay and significant regeneration in the Blackness area of the city with the provision of new- build student accommodation buildings. Further development of the City centre area continues with the “Dundee Waterfront” project now well underway. This includes significant infrastructure improvements, together with the demolition of several prominent, but unimaginative, existing buildings and the construction of the V&A at Dundee. It is anticipated that this project will re-invigorate the City and re-connect the city centre to the waterfront area.
