South Ockendon lies within the Thurrock unitary authority approximately 18 miles east of central London. It lies to the north of the A13, which provides access to central London to the west and the M25 at junction 30 (Mar Dyke Interchange). Ockendon railway station provides rail links to London Fenchurch Street via Upminster with a journey time of approximately 30 minutes and additonally numerous bus routes serve the area.
Corve Lane lies approximately 2 miles south of the town centre and runs south from Cherwell Grove with the site lying on its south side. The area is predominantly residential in nature with the open spaces of Davy Down Riverside Park and Mardyke Woods being close by.
