RWE Generation “RWE” has a total landholding of approximately 349 acres at Tilbury that includes the sites of the former Tilbury ‘A’ and ‘B’ Power Stations.RWE intends to sell a surplus brownfield site (“the Site”)  of approximately 152 acres, comprising the former ‘A’ Station, following a programme of demolition works to be undertaken in 2016/17.The former ‘B’ station land will be retained by RWE for potential future power station development.Construction started on the Tilbury ‘A’ Power Station and Jetty in 1951, commissioned in 1956. Construction of the ‘B’ Station and Jetty extension commenced in 1961, commissioned in 1967. Both ‘A’ and ‘B’ Jetties have deep water access to the Thames Estuary.The original ‘A’ station closed in 1983 and the site has been largely cleared with the exception of the original offices, fuel tanks and some ancillary buildings. Demolition of the remaining structures is due to commence in early 2016.In 2011, Tilbury ‘B’ station was converted to operate on biomass and operated on 100% wood pellets and bio oils until its closure in 2013. The ‘B’ station is now fully decommissioned and demolition works will commence in parallel with the ‘A’ station.
