Planning consent was previously granted for the development of the site and an additional area of land in separate ownership in 2006 for a Roadside Facilities development which included a petrol station, hotel, drive through restaurant, pub/restaurant and replacement sports pitch. The consent reference was N06/00655/REM.
We understand a material start to the proposed development (initial works had commenced on the provision of a replacement playing field, but not on the main development site) and therefore the reserved matters permission was considered to have formally commenced.
Interested has in the past also been received from volume house builders due to its strategic location close to the M73/74 Motorway network.
Location
The land in our client’s ownership comprises circa 2.8 hectares highlighted in blue on the title plan and is located on the western edge of the village of Gartcosh in North Lanarkshire and consists of an area of ground previously used as a local football pitch. Existing residential properties are located along the western boundary of the application site and an open area of agricultural land bounds the site to the north and east. To the south there is a roundabout which serves a local distributor road linking the M73 to the village.
