The site currently comprises part of the South Cheshire College campus, which is recognised as one of the most successful further education colleges in the country.
To meet the demands of the 21st Century the college campus is to be comprehensively redeveloped, which will release a site of 1.82 hectares (4.5 acres) of thereabouts. Following a period of consultation with Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council, a brief has been prepared which identifies the surplus land as being potentially suitable for residential development. An outline planning application has been submitted by South Cheshire College to secure outline planning permission for the surplus land in conjunction with an application for the redevelopment of the College Campus.
