What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is free web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports on your website traffic. The tool was acquired by Google in 2005 and is now the most widely used web analytics service on the internet!

What does Google Analytics do?

It connects to every page on your website, collecting information from site visitors and turns this into data you can use to analyse traffic to your website and more!

What will Google Analytics show me?

There are many different reports that you can pull from the Google Analytics, and once you get deeper into the tool you can compare data in many different ways.

Reports include analysis of the following:

  • Audience – your website visitor’s demographics, interests, location, behaviour, the technology they use and information regarding mobile responsiveness.
  • Acquisition – all traffic to your website, information regarding where people are coming from to reach your pages and lots of information regarding how social media drives traffic to your website.
  • Behaviour – in depth information about a user’s journey through your website, how well your site speed is doing and how long a user stays with you and details of any website goals you have set up.
